Jon Cracknell

Jon has worked in social change philanthropy since the mid 1990s. He co-founded the Environmental Funders Network and ran the network for its first seven years, before serving for six years on the Management Board of the U.S. Environmental Grantmakers Association.  He is currently a Board member of the Ariadne network of social change and human rights funders, a steering group member for the European Environmental Funders Group, and a trustee of 360Giving.

Jon has overseen the philanthropy of the family of the late Sir James Goldsmith, and has worked with many other leading funders.  He has provided hands-on support for successful campaigns relating to industrial agriculture, climate change, and international trade and investment treaties.  He currently manages grants for the Funders for Fair Trade collaboration and is Trust Secretary of The Ecology Trust.

Jon is a co-founder of Unchecked UK, a rapidly growing campaign that makes the case for common-sense protections that improve people’s lives.

Jon studied Social & Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge, followed by a Masters in Mass Communications (with Distinction) at the University of Leicester.  He worked in a public affairs agency representing non-profit organisations before getting involved in philanthropy.
