Florence has worked on environmental issues throughout her career. As Director of the Environmental Funders Network in the UK for 12 years, she helped foster significant growth in environmental philanthropy from UK trusts and donors and worked to support their improved effectiveness.

She previously led grantmaking and education programmes at environmental charities in the U.S., including National Audubon Society and Center for Whole Communities.

She serves on the boards of Gower Street, a grantmaking trust focused on climate and education in the UK and Ghana, and the Hedgerley Wood Trust, a climate-action charity in the Chilterns. She is also a member of the advisory groups of the Conservation Collective and the Local Storytelling Exchange.

Florence has worked on various reports to support more effective philanthropic giving, including the Where the Green Grants Went and What the Green Groups Said series, as well as publications giving insights into why donors give.

She received a first-class degree in Geography from the University of Oxford and a Master’s of Environmental Science from Yale University.
